About Us

Troop 320 is an active Boy Scout Troop in the Town of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.  We are a unit within the Black River District of the Occoneechee Council.

Originally chartered in 1951, Troop 320 has been continually serving Fuquay-Varina for the past 40 years. It has been awarded the Quality Unit award for the past 39 years.

Troop 320 goes by the "Orange Crush" nickname, a reference to the color of their hats and the colors of Fuquay-Varina High School. This name was given to them by fellow troops as 320 arrived at summer camp in a very large, old and crinkled orange school bus many years ago.  A tradition of the troop is to hand out cans of Orange Crush soda to other scouts at summer camp.

Join our troop.  We will be meeting in the Centrum  at 100 Judd Parkway SE, Fuquay Varina from 7:30 PM until 9:00 PM.

Top 5 merit badges Scouts could earn while completing assignments for schoolTop 5 merit badges Scouts could earn while completing assignments for school - Monday, August 20, 2018

Here’s a word problem to ponder: How can one homework assignment count twice?

Easy. By getting credit for that work at school and in Scouts.

Turns out several merit badge requirements align perfectly with schoolwork. And there’s no BSA rule against going for double credit. (Same goes for service projects done at school. The Guide to Advancement says that “counting service hours for school or elsewhere in the community and also for advancement is not considered double counting since the hours are counted only once for advancement purposes.”)

Makes that 10-page essay seem a little more palatable, huh?

Now that school is back in session, let’s look at the top 5 merit badge Scouts can earn while completing homework, group projects or other school assignments.

This Ski trip has been truncated due to our recent snow.  Local school systems have decided to make Monday the 22nd a snow make up date.

Our return date will be Sunday evening rather than Monday.  In order to get more skiing we will be able to ski on Sunday and will be leaving from the slopes back to Fuquay on Sunday with a later arrival.  Prices for skiing remain the same less night skiing opportunities on Sunday evening.  Lodging cost will be reduced based on our cost to Camp Overlook and the meals we will not be using.
