About Us

Troop 320 is an active Boy Scout Troop in the Town of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.  We are a unit within the Black River District of the Occoneechee Council.

Originally chartered in 1951, Troop 320 has been continually serving Fuquay-Varina for the past 40 years. It has been awarded the Quality Unit award for the past 39 years.

Troop 320 goes by the "Orange Crush" nickname, a reference to the color of their hats and the colors of Fuquay-Varina High School. This name was given to them by fellow troops as 320 arrived at summer camp in a very large, old and crinkled orange school bus many years ago.  A tradition of the troop is to hand out cans of Orange Crush soda to other scouts at summer camp.

Join our troop.  We will be meeting in the Centrum  at 100 Judd Parkway SE, Fuquay Varina from 7:30 PM until 9:00 PM.

Watch this brief, scout produced, video about our troop.

Washington, DC Spring Trip

Planning for our Spring Trip to Washington DC is taking shape! We have most of our logistics in place and are working on details and contingency plans for the event. We will depart from the Traylor Farm, 1901 Ball Road, Holly Springs, and NC.  Directly behind my home 3591 Cokesbury Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC promptly at 8:00 am Monday morning.

Soon we will be incurring some expenses for the trip that will require commitment on your part as a participant. Due Monday, March 5 a $60 non refundable deposit will be required. The total trip cost will be $120 and will include lodging, food, metro passes and additional trip expenses. This remainder will be due upon departure. Checks should be made out to Boy Scout Troop 320.

Please let me know if there is a financial need or assistance needed as soon as possible. The expenditures being made on your behalf will be your financial responsibility unless other arrangements are made.

All participants will need their normal travel clothes for the week. In addition, Class AA uniforms will be worn every day including travel up and back. Suitable non scout pants can be worn with the scout shirt. Your troop hat will be imperative. Watch the weather reports for Washington DC as we get closer.  It is recommended that on cool days a long sleeve tee shirt be worn under the scout shirt rather than wearing heavy jackets due to security issues.

All participants will need a sleeping bag, sleeping blankets, sheets, pillows may be desired. They will also need a bag lunch to eat on the road traveling up to Northern Virginia.  All drinks shall have a screw top lid.

All participants will need toiletries. All scouts will be required to shower on a frequent basis. Showers will be available. A towel or two might also be necessary.

No camping equipment will be required. Flashlights for our living arrangements will be handy but not required.  Do not bring knives or weapons of any kind. Comfortable shoes and a poncho are recommended.

A standard troop permission trip will be required.  Please make sure medications are properly labeled and marked with dosages, scout’s name and stored in a clear ziplock bag.

All participants will need a cot to sleep on. If you do not have a cot please try to borrow one from a neighbor or other scout. If this is not possible please contact me. Do not wait until the last minute to locate a cot.

Due to some of the areas we will be entering the Secret Service and Homeland Security will require your full name, date of birth, Social Security Number and an identification card if you have one.  Driver’s licenses numbers are required for those with driving licenses.  This information can be hand given to Glenn Traylor.  This information will be required three weeks prior to arrival.
