About Us

Troop 320 is an active Boy Scout Troop in the Town of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.  We are a unit within the Black River District of the Occoneechee Council.

Originally chartered in 1951, Troop 320 has been continually serving Fuquay-Varina for the past 37 years. It has been awarded the Quality Unit award for the past 36 years.

Troop 320 goes by the "Orange Crush" nickname, a reference to the color of their hats and the colors of Fuquay-Varina High School. This name was given to them by fellow troops as 320 arrived at summer camp in a very large, old and crinkled orange school bus many years ago.  A tradition of the troop is to hand out cans of Orange Crush soda to other scouts at summer camp.

Join our troop.  We will be meeting in the Centrum  at 100 Judd Parkway SE, Fuquay Varina from 7:30 PM until 9:00 PM.

It was a time of idyllic Scouting scenes and uniforms somehow still crisp and clean after a full day of hiking.

The Norman Rockwell era was so brilliantly depicted in the 51 original images he created for the official Boy Scouts annual calendar.

My fellow editor Gretchen Sparling and I got a special treat earlier this month when we got to see several of those Rockwell works in person.

Our guide for this Facebook Live video was Jennifer Landry, curator of the National Scouting Museum. Over the course of less than an hour, she took us back in time to share the fascinating story behind some of Rockwell’s greatest pieces.

Spring Trip Williamsburg, James Town, Busch Gardens, Yorktown, Langley AFB

Our Troop will be heading to Williamsburg Virginia this spring.

We will be visiting the Williamsburg area attractions and activities.

Trip will include Old Williamsburg tours, a day at Busch Gardens Adventure Park, Trips to Jamestown, Yorktown and trips to Norfolk. We will be spending the night at KOA Williamsburg in tents we provide.

Total Cost of trip excludes meals but includes admission and fees.  Right now it is estimated to be $100 plus cost of food.  We will need to get an assessment of the total number attending in order to get a firm cost.

Scouts should arrive to depart at 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning at the Traylor Farm and will return at 12:00 on Friday. Scouts need to bring a personal tent or share, cot or mattress, sleeping bag and general clothing and general needs. Rain Gear is recommended.   All scouts will be traveling in Class A every day. Money for lunch will be required several days.  See notes.
