About Us

Troop 320 is an active Scouts BSA Boy Troop in the Town of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.  We are a unit within the Cardinal District of the Occoneechee Council.

Originally chartered in 1951, Troop 320 has been continually serving Fuquay-Varina for the past 40 years. It has been awarded the Quality Unit award for the past 39 years.

Troop 320 goes by the "Orange Crush" nickname, a reference to the color of their hats and the colors of Fuquay-Varina High School. This name was given to them by fellow troops as 320 arrived at summer camp in a very large, old and crinkled orange school bus many years ago.  A tradition of the troop is to hand out cans of Orange Crush soda to other scouts at summer camp.

Join our troop.  We will be meeting at 100 Judd Parkway SE, Fuquay Varina from 7:30 PM until 9:00 PM

Umstead Park

Who: HA Patrol – Philmont bound Scouts

What: Make up training hike for postponed Neusiok Trail trip

When:

  • Meet up on Saturday, 2/5 will be 1:00 p.m. and step off will be as soon thereafter as we are assembled and ready to hike (probably somewhere between 1:30 and 2:00).
  • Pick up on Sunday, 2/6 will be at 8:30 a.m.

Where:

  • William B. Umstead State Park
  • Rendezvous point for Saturday drop off and Sunday morning pickup will be the second parking lot you come to after you have passed the visitor center. To get to this parking lot you must enter the park from the Hwy 70/Glenwood Avenue entrance (The Glenwood Ave. entrance is located at 8801 Glenwood Ave. Raleigh, NC 27617). To get to the parking lot rendezvous spot, stay on Umstead Parkway until it runs out/dead-ends at the designated parking lot.
  • Please note, we will not be rendezvousing at Mr. Traylor’s Farm or taking the vans. It is your responsibility to get to and from this training hike.

How:

  • Umstead park does not have much elevation change. Therefore, during this training trip, we will concentrate on maintaining a decent pace (3 mph) and doing so for sustained periods of time without stopping (at least 1 hour at a time).
  • We have a 10.5-12.5-mile route picked out but Umstead has a good number of trails so we will be able to easily adjust the route if we desire.
