How To Help Build The Scout Hut

Building the Scout Hut for Troop 320 will be a very big undertaking.  With your support we can provide the future of scouting Fuquay-Varina.

You can help in the following ways:
1. Donate funds to the Scout Hut
2. Provide building materials for the project
3. Provide services for the project
4. Help our fund raising effort

Donating Funds
Monetary donations may be tax deductible.  All donations are made to the Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church Scout Hut Building Fund.  Donations are tax deductible as a charitable contribution.

Providing Materials
We will need specific building materials to build the Scout Hut.  Several companies have already pledged to provide building materials.  Simply indicate your product and the amount of that product you are willing to donate.  This donation may also be tax deductible.

Providing Services
Several companies have already provided their talents to this project.  Artists, Contractors, Engineers and Architects have offered and provided their skills and talents.  Maybe you are a framing contractor or licensed plumber.  Maybe a painting contractor or electrician.  Let us know what you can do.  Every little bit helps.

Helping with Fund Raising
Networking will be the key to a successful fund raising effort.  If you know of someone that would be interested in helping with this project, make a presentation.  Solicit people you know.  Solicit scout families and old Scouters.  You can also set up a meeting between your contact and a building committee member.

What are the specifics of the building
Estimated cost - We estimate the hut will cost about $145,000 excluding site work and utilities.

Location - The scout hut will be built near Academy and Judd Road on the side of the new Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church building site in Fuquay-Varina.  There is a wooded natural area down by the old pond.  An extension of the scout hut will be a nature area and amphitheater.

About the building - The building plan provides for a large meeting area about 50'x40' with smaller class rooms and storage.  Built on a natural site, the building will fit the natural surrounding and woodsy atmosphere with its large fireplace and open deck.

Who will use the building - The building will primarily be used as the Boy Scout Hut.  Other scout groups, including Cubs and Girl Scouts, will be able to schedule meetings and events in the facility.  The church and other groups will also be able to use the building, but preference will be given to the Scouting programs.  Scheduling will be handled by the Boy Scout Troop Committee and the Boy Scout Charter Organization Representative.

When do I need to commit
We would like to begin the project soon.  Donations can be made this tax year and next.  If you plan to donate, a pledge can be made using the available form (right side of this web page).
