About Us

Troop 320B is an active Scouts BSA Boy Troop in the Town of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.  We are a unit within the Cardinal District of the Occoneechee Council.

Originally chartered in 1951, Troop 320B has been continually serving Fuquay-Varina for the past 49 years. It has been awarded the Quality Unit award for the past 48 years.

Troop 320B goes by the "Orange Crush" nickname, a reference to the color of their hats and the colors of Fuquay-Varina High School. This name was given to them by fellow troops as 320 arrived at summer camp in a very large, old and crinkled orange school bus many years ago.  A tradition of the troop is to hand out cans of Orange Crush soda to other scouts at summer camp.

Join our troop.  We will be meeting at 100 Judd Parkway SE, Fuquay Varina from 7:30 PM until 9:00 PM

Summer Camp 2025 - Camp Davy Crockett - Tuesday, March 25, 2025

Camp Davy Crockett is nestled in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains in Northeast Tennessee. Its pristine wilderness and strong camping traditions make it a fantastic place to attend camp. Camp Davy Crockett is 1865 acres with 9 miles of shoreline on Cherokee Lake. Camp Davy Crockett celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022, and continues to be a place where we build tomorrow’s leaders.

Some great things about Camp Davy Crockett are:

  • Frontier Camp is a program rich in the traditions of the 1800s, reliving the life of a young Davy Crockett
  • Swimming Pool and Lakefront Programs, including Motorboating and Water Skiing
  • Strong Merit Badge Program with a rotating schedule offering over 50 merit badges

June and July temperatures average a high of 82 and a low of 61.

We are on for our prep trip this weekend; the Park Ranger at Umstead confirmed they are open-- they just missed updating the website this morning.  Arrive at the Farm before 4p with dinner in bag/belly, we will leave promptly at 4:30p for Umstead.  Please remember temps are expected to drop to 23 tonight and only get into the mid-40s for our hike tomorrow, so please prepare for the weather conditions:

  • Bring a cold weather sleeping bag (ideally with a comfort level of 20 degrees, or augment with bag liner and an additional blanket (you can leave this blanket in your tent while we hike, so don't worry about the weight/bulk)
  • Sleeping pads are an essential part of your sleep system, not just for your comfort, but to insulate you from the cold ground.  Insulated pads with an R value of 2-3+ are best, but any insulation helps.  If you have a sleep matt with a silver side, that points up (to reflect your body heat back to you).
  • Wear a dry insulated layer to bed, such as thermals (synthetic materials are best)
  • Bring warm wool socks (2+ pair), and wear a dry pair to bed
  • Pack clothing layers, wicking first layer, bulkier middle layer (such as fleece), insulated outer layer with some protection against wind/precipitation (melting snow from trees)
  • Gloves, Winter Hats, Gaiters/Buffs are all necessary
  • Fill the bottom of your sleeping bag with the next day's clothes, keeps you warmer at night, and you have warm clothes to change into in the morning
