More Detailed Information

Who: Adventurous Scouts and Scouters who have signed up for a weekend trip to The Citadel and Charleston.

What:

  • Saturday – 03/23 > Visit The Citadel on Saturday morning and explore Charleston on Saturday afternoon. Things we’ll do include:
    • Tour The Citadel and see the many military artifacts on display.
    • See a drill demonstration and a military parade.
    • Tour the City of Charleston and seem many historic sites.
    • Have dinner at the College of Charleston
  • Sunday – 03/24 > Travel back home.

Where/When: See above.

How:

  • Cost = $35 per Scout/Scouter. That can be paid by cash, check, or PayPal (PayPal cost = $36.19 to cover fees). Make checks out to “Parents of Troop 320” and both checks and cash should be given to Mr. Hoegemeyer or another ASM if one is designated.
    • Fees cover all food and activities except for Friday dinner and Sunday meal on the way back. For these the Scouts should bring a little cash.
    • Friday’s meal will be either in your belly, bag, or at Bucees.
  • Meet at Farm at designated time for departure. There will be a crew that meets a bit earlier to help get the trailer ready for our trip and the Spring Trip. If you are a Scout and can come early, tell your SPL. If you are an adult and can come early, tell Mr. Hoegemeyer.
  • Each Scout must have a signed permission slip and every Scout and adult must have a current A and B BSA health form on file with the troop. Both of these forms can be found on the Troop website and bringing these to the farm on day of departure is acceptable.
  • This is an action packer campout (if you don’t know what that means ask an older Scout).
  • Our lodging will be tents in a campground, but all of our activities will be centered around “urban exploring” so pack accordingly. If you have been on a Spring Trip before that is the type of gear and clothing you would need/want. Class A’s will be worn while touring and anytime we are in the vans. We will be doing A LOT OF WALKING so comfortable shoes are a must. While touring you will want/need a water bottle so having a small day pack to carry this and other necessary items would be a good idea.
  • Tenting – we need to have as small of a footprint at the campsite as possible so Scouts are encouraged to tent together rather than use hammocks or solo tents. All safe Scouting rules need to be followed for tenting arrangements.
  • Be sure to bring a camp chair for hanging out in the evening and also a towel and shower gear if you want to shower as they have a shower at the campsite.

Why: Because it’s there. 😊
