About Us

Troop 320 is an active Boy Scout Troop in the Town of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.  We are a unit within the Black River District of the Occoneechee Council.

Originally chartered in 1951, Troop 320 has been continually serving Fuquay-Varina for the past 40 years. It has been awarded the Quality Unit award for the past 39 years.

Troop 320 goes by the "Orange Crush" nickname, a reference to the color of their hats and the colors of Fuquay-Varina High School. This name was given to them by fellow troops as 320 arrived at summer camp in a very large, old and crinkled orange school bus many years ago.  A tradition of the troop is to hand out cans of Orange Crush soda to other scouts at summer camp.

Join our troop.  We will be meeting in the Centrum  at 100 Judd Parkway SE, Fuquay Varina from 7:30 PM until 9:00 PM.

Description:

UPDATE - for 15 Jan 2020

All, the final decision has been made - due to the abnormal warm weather at the Massanutten Resort the skiing conditions have deteriorated rapidly.  Our backup plan has always been to go to the water park at the resort.  We are going to proceed with our secondary option for this outing.

  • Timeline for this activity remains the same - Meet at the Traylor farm NLT 1530 and depart NLT 1615 – Only change will be that we will meet at the Water Park at 0945 in the morning
  • Ensure you have a signed permission slip - this is your ticket to get on the van - http://orangecrush.org/Portals/t320/General%20Forms/T320%20Permission%20Slip.pdf?ver=2017-02-08-173455-517
  • All Scouts will travel in their Class A Uniform - Shirt and Hat will be the minimum
  • The water park does not provide Towels so bring an extra one for our outing
  • Weather at Massnutten this weekend - Pack for the conditions - We may do some outdoor activities.  Be Prepared for the conditions
    • Friday - High 38 Low 25 - Cloudy
    • Saturday - High 38 Low 31 - Rain/Snow Mix
    • Sunday - High 41 Low 19 – Sunny
  • Remember – We will not be stopping to eat on the way up except for bathroom breaks and fuel – make sure you bring a sack lunch or snacks
  • On the way home we will be stopping for lunch – bring some additional funds for this

On 17 Jan 2020 we will be going Skiing and Snowboarding at Massanutten Resort in VA.  This will be loads of fun and will give you an opportunity to work on and complete the Winter Sports Merit Badge.  We will be staying at Camp Overlook in the Swank Memorial Retreat.  See the sites below for additional information about these location.

qThermal underwear or warm layers to be worn under your ski pants & winter jacket  (These layers should be made up of wool, fleece, down, or synthetic down. Cotton is not recommended.
